EGYPTIAN SOLO:

Approximately 2:30 - 2:45 minute routine

Egyptian Cabaret routine including a short drum solo. No zil requirement.

UNIVERSAL CLASSIC CABARET:

Approximately 2:30 - 2:45 minute routine

Your routine will include the 4/4, 6/8, 9/8 rhythms. VEIL and ZILS (finger cymbals) ARE required and should be played very well during SOME PORTION OF THE ROUTINE but NOT necessarily the 6/8 & 9/8 rhythms!

*YOU MUST USE VEIL AND PLAY ZILS DURING SOME PORTION OF ROUTINE.

* Please, NO OTHER PROPS ALLOWED in this category! (See SPECIALTY CATEGORY for props only). This format does not necessarily dictate a cabaret performance. It also will lend itself to folkloric interpretation.

GROUP - All Ages Any Style:

Approximately 4:30 - 4:45 minute routine

That means ALL ages...! Kids group, Teen groups, Adult Groups welcome in this category, or combine all ages into one group.

*REMEMBER: this is a belly dancing competition so you must belly dance during some portion of the routine. Everyone must dance during some portion of the routine, and all enter and remain on stage during entire routine. You may have musicians, but they must participate in Choreography. Props welcome. Open to your creative ideas and efforts.

DRUM SOLO:

No zil requirement.

TAKSIM SOLO:

Approximately 2:30 - 2:45 minute routine

No zil requirement. Can include belly rolls and floor work.

No one under 45 yrs old.   

No zil requirement.

NO PROPS, please ; Veils and Zils Acceptable.

FUSION SOLO:

Approximately 2:30 - 2:45 minute routine

Fusion Solo = belly dance blended with other traditional or authentic dance styles, tribal-fusion, poly-belly, Flamenco, East Indian, Modern, Improv etc....

Fusion props are allowed if related to the performance piece.

No zil requirement.

SPECIALITY PROP SOLO:

2:30 to 2:45 minute routine.

This category is to show proficiency with ONE PROP in single OR multiple use.

It can include veil (s) (circular, double, rectangular) ; Poi ; Capes ; Isis Wings ; Fans ; Sword (single or double) ; Shamadan ; Tray ; Cane, etc.

Can include balancing, flipping quarters, dancing on glasses, etc.

No zils.

Please specify type of prop you will be using at the same time you submit and pay for your categories.
